Pipe of the Year 2020
Since 1997, Peterson has offered a special edition Pipe of the Year: a series centered entirely around one singular shape, often inspired or revived from the archives and presented in a number of Peterson's most iconic finishes. For 2020, Peterson has resurrected the 9BC, a historic design that evolved from Charles Peterson's original Patent shape. Essentially the predecessor to the modern XL90, the 9BC differs from the original Patent design in that it is not a System shape and features a tapered stem, a taller, more Egg-like bowl, a more sinuous curve through the shank, and more obvious cheeking around the transition. Collectors continue to search fervently for the original 9BC, but its rarity has pushed it into near mythological status, making 2020's Pipe of the Year a particular value for its ultimately enjoyable smoking experience and surety as a beloved keepsake. Topped with sterling silver bands and P-Lip stems, the 2020 Pipe of the Year is available in Smooth, Rusticated, and Sandblasted finishes.
